Members CARME: Teresa Eugénio External partners: Sónia Maria Gomes – Full Professor at the Federal University of Baia (Brasil) – Leader The team brings together 11 researchers and 3 students from several Brazilian institutions such as the Federal Universities of Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, Santa Catarina; the Federal Institute of Bahia, the Feira de Santana State University, the Visconde de Cairu Foundation and the Anísio Teixeira Faculty. And Portuguese: Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and Polytechnic Institute of Leira. Funding Entities: CNPq – National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) – Brazil. Description: The project aims to study the process of training professionals, from the business area, in the Brazilian scenario from 2016 to 2020, in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the analysis of their didactic pedagogical possibilities, the study seeks to contribute in the proposition of a methodological approach of teaching in a transforming educational perspective. We hope to obtain theoretical and empirical evidences that, besides providing subsidies for proposing a methodological approach to teaching, may contribute to suggesting the creation of public policies and pedagogical order. It also seeks to incorporate, in the training of professionals of the business area, a concept that broadens the reflexive and critical action of the professional and citizen reality. That promotes the interaction and intervention of sustainable development.

Its specific objectives are: to design a new consulting model tailored to SMEs in the sector, creating easier and quicker adaptation of processes based on circular economy (EC) practices. Additionally it aims to create a model of international cooperation that will effectively implement the circularity principle. As a result of the good practices developed, a greater stimulus to eco-innovation is expected.

Study for the anticipation of the needs of qualifications in the region of Leiria | |
Member CARME: Ana Sofia Lopes This project aims to support the process of concertation and planning for the provision of level 4 professional courses for the Leiria Region. To this end, a diagnosis of mid-level qualification needs in this region will be developed, by using several statistical sources as well as surveys, interviews and workshops with the stakeholders, envisioned to identify the recent trends in demand and supply of qualifications and to anticipate the needs of qualifications from the point of view of employers. Through the identification of qualification priorities and an offer adjusted to the needs, we intend to contribute to the economic development and employability of the region. Member CARME: Eduarda Fernandes. The project aims to define and identify the different organizational models in agriculture and forestry at the commercialization level, focusing essentially on the European and national reality. The diagnosis of the Portuguese forestry sector is carried out considering the organization of the production and the joint management carried out by the different organizations selected for study. The elaboration of a manual of joint management is one output of the project, which will be based on the diagnostic done with the selected organizations. Local Action Plan for Urban Regeneration of Municipality of Batalha | |

This project aimed at the promotion of a sustainable urban environment and regeneration of the intervention areas of the historical center and riverside area of Vila da Batalha. The research team, in cooperation with the municipality of Batalha, collaborated in the planning of integrated and coherent objectives and actions, materialized through the public and private projects which were submitted to European Regional Development Fund financing program. The application received the approval of the the evaluating agency, resulting in the allocation of 2,7 million euros of ERDF to this municipality, which will partially support the development of the public and private projects approved.

Project led by University of Aveiro (http://www.ua.pt/getin/InvestigCientifica_DEMOSPIN) DEMOSPIN research project purpose was to develop a tool to support the definition of policy strategies concerning the development of demographically depressed regions. The methodology combined demographic projections techniques with growth and regional development models. The outputs allowed to develop and evaluate different scenarios for the population evolution in regions located in the interior of Portugal up to 2030, and to study potential options to revert the demographic decline of these areas..
